QRtor does not set an expiration date on static QR codes because the destination is stored directly in the image. A linked website can still stop working if its URL changes or becomes unavailable.

Use cases

  • Long-term signage and evergreen documentation.
  • Product labels, manuals, and permanent exhibits.
  • Business cards and printed materials without a subscription.

How to create it

  1. Enter the URL or content you want to encode.
  2. Customize the QR code design.
  3. Generate the static QR code in your browser.
  4. Download PNG, SVG or PDF and keep the destination available.

FAQ

Do QR codes created with QRtor expire?

QRtor does not expire static QR codes. They keep working as long as the encoded content or destination remains valid.

What can make a QR code stop working?

A static QR code can stop being useful if the encoded website is deleted, moved, blocked or no longer available.

Do I need an account to keep the QR code active?

No. Static QR codes from QRtor do not require an account or subscription to stay active.

Does QRtor store the QR code content?

Static QR codes are generated in your browser. QRtor does not store the content you enter for these codes.

Static QR codes, why they never expire and what can still break

Capacity and limits

The destination is stored in the pattern itself, so there is no account, no redirect service and nothing that can lapse. The consequence runs both ways: the code cannot expire, and it also cannot be repointed. What is printed is what it will always resolve to.

Device compatibility

Static codes work with every scanner ever made, including offline hardware, because decoding needs no network and no vendor. A code printed today will read the same way in a decade, which is not true of codes that route through a third-party service.

Common mistakes

  • Treating permanence as covering the destination too — the code will outlive the page it points at if that URL changes.
  • Printing a long run against a brand-new address before it has settled, which is the one thing you cannot correct later.
  • Assuming a dynamic code from a subscription service is equivalent; those stop resolving when the subscription does.

Printing and placement

Because these codes are meant to outlast the print run, choose durable stock and finishes: laminate outdoor placements, and prefer matte, which resists both glare and wear. Scale the width to the scan distance and leave the quiet zone clear.
